AEI Tèxtils co-organized the second GALACTICA webinar with 40 participants featuring selected speakers from the UPC, Terrassa.
This was the second of 10 webinars organized to showcase both technical and business oriented discussions involving the textile, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing sectors. This series of weekly webinars are aimed at seeding synergies across the different sectors involved in GALACTICA in views of the first call for proposals which will be launched in March 2021 with a budget of 1.2 M€ to support European SMEs.
During the webinar, AEI Tèxtils made a short overview of the project and moderated the debate among the three professors from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) in Terrassa – the only institution in Spain that offers all three bachelor’s degrees in Textile Engineering, Aeronautic Engineering, and Industrial Engineering.
Professors Rita Planas, Monica Ardanuy and Miquel Sureda, all from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) in representation of the three departments (Industrial, Textile and Aerospace engineering), made a short overview of the different technologies in industry 4.0, textile use for aerospace applications and major trends in aerospace and aeronautics in terms of materials and innovation with an example of a Martian city needs.
The webinar was highly successful with 40 participants and it is now available on the GALACTICA website repository along with other past webinars.
Registrations for the upcoming webinars are open on the GALACTICA website, with detailed description and agendas. Next webinars include topics like certifications needed for textile products in aerospace, tech transfer from aerospace to textile, co-creation methodologies, pitching, sustainability, IP strategy and examples from combined projects.

Save the date for GALACTICA Info-day and 1st Matchmaking: March 24th!
GALACTICA will present the first call for proposals on March 24th during the info-day and virtual matchmaking. The call will include 1.2 M€ available for selected SMEs. Companies will be able to participate to B2B meetings and identify potential partners to apply for GALACTICA funding under Pioneer Acceleration and Orbital projects.
