The Skills4Circularity project, a consortium of 21 partners from Europe and Türkiye, including Tèxtils.CAT and led by UPC, met on 29th and 30th April in Izmir to tackle a critical challenge: the growing gap between current textile education and the skills required for a circular economy.
The project’s latest needs analysis confirms that existing training is failing to keep pace with industry demands. To bridge this divide, Skills4Circularity is launching a strategic roadmap focused on the real-world needs of the sector, including:
- Targeted Training: Specialized Masterclasses in textile recycling, eco-design, and product certification.
- Digital Innovation: Tools to accelerate the green transition through technology.
- Skills Observatory: A live platform to monitor and respond to evolving industrial labor requirements in real-time.
By redesigning how the workforce is educated, Skills4Circularity is ensuring the textile sector is prepared for the future it claims to want, rather than the past it already knows.
