FuturFIBER
Integrating advanced sustainable fibrous materials into engineering curricula.
Coordinator of the project: University Goce Dolvev from Stip (North Macedonia)
Participation of Tèxtils.CAT: Member. The consortium is also made up of the Technical University Georghe Asachi from Iași (Romania), and the University of Minho (Portugal).
Start date: September 2026
End date: August 2029
Summary of the project:
FuturFIBER aims to close the green skills gap in textile engineering education in North Macedonia and Romania. In both countries, textiles are one of the main industrial sectors, but curricula still focus mainly on garment manufacturing.
The project will transfer research by the Universidade do Minho (Portugal) on natural and bio-based fibres and sustainable fibrous materials into university teaching. To do so, it will develop an open 5-ECTS module on advanced sustainable materials. The module will include 10 video lectures, a teacher’s guide and a database of more than 100 scientific references. It will be validated with online students and at a summer school in Portugal, and then integrated into the curricula of the partner universities. Within the project, Tèxtils.CAT will provide the industry perspective and the link with companies.
