ARPE revolutionizes the market by incorporating recycled fabric into its products

25/04/2019

ARPE, member of AEI Tèxtils, specialized in the manufacture, printing and design of microfiber products, goes ahead again to its competitors and develops a new fabric of microfibres made from yarns manufactured with post-consumer plastic bottles and recycled polyester fibers. This new fabric is an evolution of what has been done up to date.

The new fabric maintains the same structure, but its composition will be 100% polyester, and also certified by Oeko-tex. With this new material stronger colors and a better degree of solidity will achieved. For the moment, only the towels and pillows with digital printing will incorporate this new material.

In this way, with the new recycled material, products that respect the environment without losing quality are developed. In terms of energy consumption, water and CO2 emissions the production of the yarn from recycled material has a much lower impact compared to the conventional one.

The development of more sustainable products is understood within the strategic plan of the company “Ready for the coming future” 2017-2020, which aims to incorporate eco-design and the circular economy throughout the company.

With the collaboration of AEI Tèxtils, ARPE was one of the 207 European companies selected in the latest call of 2018 by the SME Instrument program (Horizon 2020). The project aims to develop a new disruptive business model, which integrates the life cycle management of towels used in gyms and other collectives, produced by the company, with a focus based on the circular economy, to give multiple uses to the product and with an economic recovery in all stages of the process.
