AVTEX integrates AI and machine vision for real-time quality control in narrow fabric manufacturing

12/12/2025

Tèxtils.CAT members MACCION and CINPASA announced the successful completion of AVTEX, a sustainable innovation project funded by In Transit – DEVELOP (2nd Call) that integrates machine vision and artificial intelligence into narrow fabrics production. The market-ready solution automates visual inspection, detects dimensional defects in real time, and synchronizes with ERP systems to ensure full traceability and data-driven quality analytics.

This is the digital and green transition at work. AVTEX demonstrates how traditional textile processes can adopt artificial intelligence to achieve greater efficiency, lower environmental impact, and higher competitiveness.

Within four months, the AVTEX project partners developed and validated a prototype system capable of inspecting 100% of production, reducing defects by 30%, energy use by 20% and reduction of 26 tons per year of waste. The integrated system combines HD cameras, AI-based models, and ERP/MES synchronization to deliver real-time alerts, automated defect classification, and full traceability. The solution has been proven scalable and adaptable for other continuous production sectors such as packaging and automotive.
