On October 2nd, in the framework of FOSTEX project, a roundtable focused to the Moroccan textile industry was held.
FOSTEX project is co-financed by the European Commission’s ERASMUS + program under the Capacity Building for higher education program. It started on January 2019 and it will last 3 years.
AEI Tèxtils is member of the consortium. The project coordinator is the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Five additional partners complete the European part of the consortium: the University of West Attica (UNIWA) and CRE.THI.DEV in Greece, Materially and CIAPE in Italy, and the INCDTP research center in Romania. The partnership is completed with six partners from Jordan (JUST – Jordan University of Science and Technology, BAU – Al-Balqa Applied University and the Amman Chamber of Commerce) and from Morocco (ESITH from Casablanca, University Hassan II of Casablanca and AMITH, the largest Moroccan textile association).
The aim of the project is to stablish a collaboration among the participating European organizations and the ones in Jordan and Morocco, by creating a network, which may benefit the textile industry in the countries involved in the project.
The roundtable was organized by the Moroccan partners of the project and several companies attended the event that was available by streaming.
After the welcome by the organizers, Dr. Mònica Ardanuy, as FOSTEX coordinator, presented the project followed by Dr. Najib Hamout, from ESITH, who summarized the results of the focus groups organized with Moroccan companies.
Then, Prof. Omar Cherkaoui (ESITH) and Prof. Said Gmouh (UH2C) described the equipment that both universities will purchase to provide specialized services to the Moroccan textile industry.
Next, Dr. Ariadna Detrell, AEI Tèxtils’ Cluster Manager, made the presentation “Market trends and business opportunities in the field of advanced textile materials”.
Finally, Prof. Omar Cherkaoui presented the research and development lines of ESITH as well as the ongoing textile projects.
